Christopher Glen Boatwright of Boy Scout Troop 95 was honored at a special Eagle Scout ceremony on Feb. 24 at Union United Methodist Church in Irmo.
To achieve Scouting’s highest rank, Boatwright earned 30 merit badges, served as the Troop’s senior patrol leader and completed a major community service project. Boatwright’s service project took place at McEntire Joint National Guard Base.
Leading 20 adults and Scouts, Boatwright built a 1.2 mile nature trail and information stanchions describing the flora and fauna of the local area.
Boatwright, 15, has been a member of Troop 95, chartered to Union United Methodist Church in Irmo for five years. He is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and a National Youth Leadership Training graduate. He is a sophomore at Irmo High School and is a member of the junior varsity baseball team.
Boatwright resides in Columbia with his parents, Glen and Christine Boatwright, his brother William, also a scout in Troop 95, and his sister Elizabeth, who resides in Fort Mill. He is the grandson of Vi Collins and the late Houston Collins of Salem and Norma and Frank Boatwright of Aiken.
