Spring is right around the corner, and if you’d like to get a heads up on some summer fashions while enjoying good food and helping local charities, then the Aiken Woman’s Club may have what you need.
The club’s 20th annual Luncheon and Fashion Show will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 2 at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Newberry Street.
The attire for this year’s show, which is themed “Fun in the Sun,” will center on summer attire, according to JoEllyn Coker, second vice president for the club. The clothes, which are provided by Dillard’s, will be modeled by members of the club and will show a variety of classy to dressy outfits for ladies of all shapes and sizes.
Catering will be provided by Two Southern Ladies with desserts from the Aiken Woman’s Club.
Also, Johnny and Judy Turner – whom Coker called “the shag king and queen” – will provide shag lessons to those in attendance, with a deejay providing beach music.
Tickets for the luncheon are $25 and can be purchased from Woman’s Club members or by calling Helen Randall at 649-4989. Proceeds from the event will benefit 15 to 20 local charities.
The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday.
