BROOKLYN, NY – Miss Gertrude Young entered into rest Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Bishop Henry B. Hucles Episcopal Nursing Home. She was a daughter of the late Levy and Sarah Young and sister of the late Erma Young of Aiken, SC. She was a retired schoolteacher in Brooklyn, New York. Survivors include her sisters, Betty Young, Brooklyn, NY and Sadie Young, Atlanta, GA; one nephew, Vincent Plowden, Miami FL, four nieces, Deborah Goodwyn Culver Atlanta, GA, Jacqueline Goodwyn Travis, Atlanta, GA, Melissa English Rias, Atlanta, GA, and Antoinette Goodwyn, Brook-lyn, NY; five grand-nephews Majazz Travis, Najee Travis, Brandyn Meyer, Bazlee Rias and Bailee Rias. Funeral services will be held Thursday at First Baptist Church of Crown Height, Brooklyn, NY and a service at 2 PM Saturday, 2/23/2013 at Jackson-Brooks Memorial Chapel in Aiken with Rev. Reginald Simmons officiating. Burial: Jessamine Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 10 AM Saturday.
