I think Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada, has reaped what he sowed.
His caving in to the Republicans on the issue of altering the Senate rule concerning the filibuster means that the minority – not the majority – controls the legislative process. Is the way a democracy is supposed to work?
Now the Republicans are blocking the nomination of former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel by filibustering. Sen. Hagel’s views may vary from the tea party’s orthodoxy, but I suspect that the real reason he doesn’t have the favor of Sen. Lindsey Graham, et. al., is because President Obama picked him.
I hope the Democratic primary in Nevada has a rich choice.
