Playing its third match in three days, the nationally 44th-ranked USC Aiken women’s tennis team had its winning streak come to an end in a 7-2 Peach Belt Conference loss to Clayton State on Sunday afternoon at the USCA Tennis Complex.
USCA (5-2, 2-2 PBC) dropped all three doubles matches to Clayton State (2-1, 1-0 PBC). The Lakers would then claim four of the six singles matches to acquire the 7-2 win.
USCA picked up singles wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.
Regionally 19th-ranked Margot Simon obtained the win at No. 2 singles for USC Aiken when she bested Clayton State’s Martina Dedaj 7-6, 6-1.
Shauna Williams acquired a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles over Clayton State’s Jessica Budd.
USCA will play North Greenville on Thursday. The match is scheduled to get underway at 3:30 p.m.
