With spring flowers comes spring fashion, and this year is expected to have a bit of something for everyone.

Locals and fashion writers predict what will be “in” the warm weather ahead.

What colors

Spring is noted for bright colors, and, this year will be no exception.

“There’s a strong push for pastels,” said Leslie Gouge, owner of Caroline’s and Pitter Patter Children’s Boutique. “We are coming off winter with its dark tones.”

Bright colors will be seen for all ages and genders, said Kristin Flake, JCPenney store manager.

However, contrast, namely between black and white, is foreseen as an option for the spring, according to Style magazine’s website’s trend reports.

Mixed prints and pattern mash-ups will also be used to make clothes pop out.

“Everything has got a bit of play in it,” Gouge said.

Floral prints will be seen on females, while both genders will see stripes.

Beading will be used to give some outfits a bit more edge, according to Glamour magazine.

As far as material goes, ruffles are back, and sheer material will be used to make light delight from the warmth.

The outfits

Shift dresses will be coming in for a formal or casual look, while sporty dresses will make an appearance with a more bold impact.

For career women, power suits will push in for a sophisticated look.

Tunics “come in strong” for tops, Gouge said.

Shorts are a staple for the time, and, this year, short shorts and Bermuda shorts are rumored to be the top choices.

Bright color, skinny denim jeans, mainly among teenagers, might be a pick, as well, Flake said.

As far as accessories go, a hat and/or scarf with a simple outfit will not be abnormal, Gouge said.

However, sometimes that might be a little different will come from the children’s department.

“Bow ties are huge for young boys,” Gouge said.

Flats and low heels are coming back in for that on-the-go comfort, according to Glamour.

“’90s pointy heels are back and have been modernized with everything from dainty ankle straps to cylindrical heels,” the magazine’s website said. “There will always be a moment for four-inch pumps ..., but these ladylike heels are such a nice option to have on hand.”
