Man accused of stabbing woman for love detained
Steven Ray Turner, 44, of Briarwood Road in Windsor, was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree assault and battery, and placed in the Aiken County detention center.
The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at a home on Stuckey Loop.
Turner allegedly used an ax to pry open the back door of the home, came into the 30-year-old victim’s bedroom and groped her before stabbing her in the lower left leg with a knife, according to reports. According to the report, the victim said Turner told her, “‘I stabbed you to make you love me.’”
The woman had a puncture wound about a half-inch long on her leg, according to the report.
Turner reportedly tried to break into her bedroom window but was unsuccessful, so he used the ax to enter the back door. Capt. Troy Elwell with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said Turner was taken into custody without incident at his home on Thursday. Turner and the victim were “acquaintances,” Elwell said.
The victim lives at the home along with a man and her son, both of whom where in the home when the burglary happened, according to the report.Teddy Kulmala covers the crime beat for the Aiken Standard. He is a graduate of Clemson University and hails from Williston.
