The National Weather Service in Columbia is calling for a 50 percent chance of snow mixing with rain Saturday afternoon. Temperatures Saturday will start in the 40s, but by early afternoon, cold air will sink into the upper atmosphere and drop the temperature to the mid 30s. "By afternoon, it could be cold enough," said forecaster Bruce Cherry. "Models are showing there may be a period of time where rain will mix with snow. We're not expecting any accumulation. Those are the preliminary thoughts right now."
