The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a man they said broke into a woman’s Windsor home and stabbed her in the leg in an apparent attempt to make her love him.
Steven Ray Turner, 44, of Briarwood Road in Windsor, is being sought in the case. He is described as a white male, 5 foot 7 and 153 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Turner reportedly walks with a cane.
The incident happened on Stuckey Loop about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a sheriff’s office report.
The 30-year-old victim told officers Turner used an ax to pry open the back door of the home, came into her bedroom and stabbed her in the lower right leg with a knife, according to the report. Turner reportedly told her, “I stabbed you to make you love me!”
Officers saw a puncture wound about a half-inch long on the woman’s leg, according to the report.
The victim said Turner first tried to break the bedroom window but was unsuccessful, so he used the ax to enter the back door, according to the report.
Officers found pry marks on the back door and the bedroom window. A broken ax handle was found near the bedroom window, and the head was found near the stairs leading to the back door.
The woman lives at the home along with a man and her son, both of whom were in the home when the burglary happened, according to the report.
The woman and the man were both familiar with Turner and were able to identify him, according to the report.
