When Michaela Berley of Cold Creek Nurseries mentioned that Cold Creek had put together a campaign to highlight different flowers with their “special meanings” for Valentine's Day, we jumped at the idea of sharing the idea with our readers.
In the Victorian era, it was popular to assign flowers special meanings, in order to communicate thoughts and feelings. We thought if would be fun to add the special meanings to the flowers like people did back in the Victorian era,” she said.
Part of the plan was to get flower-givers to consider potted plants instead of traditional cut flowers to their special Valentine. After all, with a little care a potted plant can bring joy and happiness for a long time.
Cold Creek highlighted 14 flowers for Valentine's Day, so we are bringing you those, with the hope that you find that special message for your Valentine through the beauty of flowers. See each flower and its meaning in our photo gallery, at left.
