Idea for good family fun

If you are looking for a fun, educational, inexpensive experience to share with children and adults, we have a suggestion.

Recently, we took grandchildren with the book “Banksia, Discovering Aiken with Children” in hand to the Aiken County Museum and spent hours seeking and discussing items shown in the book through pictures and the paintings of local artists.

Our first grader enjoyed reading the pages, our five-year-old wanted to be the first to spot the display and we all enjoyed learning about the past. This gem of a book was sold as a fund-raiser for the Aiken Junior Woman’s Club and features the writing of club member Monica Wells.

We could take an entire column of the Aiken Standard and tell you some of our experiences, but, better still, you can get a book and a buddy or two, young or old, and enjoy an outing that you will just have to share with others.
