People will find a plethora of things up for auction at the Western Carolina State Fairgrounds this weekend, including over 50,000 square feet of flooring, electronics, power tools and a 1987 Camaro.
Licensed auction firm Myrtle Beach Auction is bringing five tractor trailer loads of materials to the fairgrounds, all of which the general public can bid on, according to Ed Hagins, who is with the auction firm. The auction starts Saturday at 10 a.m.
A preview of all the items will be offered Friday from 4 until 7 p.m.
“People can look around and see what’s there, then go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and compare prices,” Hagins said.
Items include solid wood kitchen cabinet sets, prefinished hardwoods in various colors, styles and widths, interior Whirlpool tubs, granite countertops, ceiling fans, bathroom fixtures, flat-screen TVs, tablets, stainless steel flatware, cordless drills, trimmers and more.
Interested buyers can register on Saturday between 8 and 10 a.m. to receive a bidding card. The highest bidder wins.
Flooring is sold by the square foot with the high bidder taking as much or as little as needed.
Payment is accepted with either cash, a pre-approved check, debit or credit card. There is a 10 percent buyer’s premium on cash and check transactions and a 13 percent buyer’s premium on debit and credit card transactions.
The fairgrounds are located at 1566 Columbia Highway N.
