Alpha returns to the races Thursday

The 2012 Aiken trained Horse of the Year Godolphin Racing’s Alpha will be making his 2013 debut in Dubai. The 4-year-old colt, now in the barn of trainer Saeed bin Suroor, has been entered in tomorrow’s UAE Group 2 $250,000 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2, according to The Blood-Horse. Tim Jones broke and trained Alpha in Aiken.

Alpha dead heated with Golden Ticket to place first in the 2012 Grade 1 Travers Stakes. The diminutive bay colt also captured the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes, Grade 3 Withers Stakes and the Count Fleet Stakes during his sophomore campaign. Kiaran McLaughlin conditioned Alpha in the United States, and saddled him in his first 11 starts.

Alpha has 5 wins, and has placed second twice in 11 lifetime starts, en route to earning $1,270,000.
