An Aiken man is dead after an early morning single vehicle crash on Wire Road.

Kirby A. White, 22, of Aiken was pronounced dead at the scene at 2 a.m., according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

White was driving north in a 2006 Mitsubishi on Wire Road near Old Shoals Road when, Carlton said, it appeared the vehicle went of the roadway and stuck a tree.

Carlton said it appears White was speeding at the time of the crash and that alcohol may be a contributing factor.

White died from multiple body trauma, and toxicology is pending. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
