Woman’s body found in burning car
BLUFFTON (AP) — Beaufort County deputies said a woman’s body was found in a burning car near Bluffton and there was no sign the vehicle had been in a wreck.
Authorities said firefighters found the body around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday after putting out the blaze that consumed a car on the side of state Highway 46.
The coroner’s office said the woman’s identity won’t be released until after an autopsy, which is scheduled for today.
Investigators said the woman’s body was in the driver’s seat, but they found no evidence the Honda Civic had been in a collision.
