The Wagener-Salley High School boys’ basketball team bounced back from a loss on Friday with a lopsided win over Region 4-A rival Williston-Elko Tuesday. Four War Eagles scored in double figures in the 41-point victory, led by RJ Tyler’s 21 points.


Duane Davenport wasn’t far behind, totalling 19 for Wagener-Salley (11-8, 5-3), while teammates Malcolm Stroman and Gregg Hicks added 17 and 10 points respectively.


Kalief Freeman led the way for the Blue Devils (8-7, 4-4) with 12 points. Jahmaya Jenkins added 10 more for Williston-Elko, which will return to action on Thursday, when only the boys will play at Branchville.


Wagener-Salley’s next game will be on Friday when they play host to North, which was routed by region-leading Fox Creek Tuesday.


Silver Bluff 73


Bamberg-Ehrhardt 34


It was a total team win for the Silver Bluff High School boys’ basketball team in a Region 5-AA contest where it more than doubled up Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s final score. Donte Wright led the way for the Bulldogs (10-7, 5-1) with 21 points. Jalen Jackson scored 16 points in the win while Jaylen Lawrence added 10 more. Brian Hickson got the offense going with 10 assists and Gyasi Yeldell controlled the glass with 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who will return to action on Friday at Wade Hampton.


Kennedy MS 41 (10-1)


North Augusta 39 (8-3)


The Kennedy Middle School boys’ basketball team eked out a close win over North Augusta, prevailing 41-39. Tancey Richardson and Najee Whosendove scored 12 points each for Kennedy (10-1), while Korri Leverette chipped in with eight more. The next game for Kennedy is at home against Aiken Middle School on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.


Mead Hall MS 28


Augusta Christian 19


Down by two points at halftime, Mead Hall out scored Augusta Christian in the second half 15-4 for the win. Zion Glover scored 11 points for the Panthers, followed by Christopher Brinkley and Ben Gilligan with six and five points, respectively. Griffith James scored four and Cameron Glover scored two.


The leading scorer for Augusta Christian was Camden McCombs with seven points.


Mead Hall (6-9) will play again on Friday against Cambridge Academy at home.


GIRLS

Silver Bluff 42


Bamberg-Ehrhardt 39


It wasn’t easy, but the Silver Bluff High School girls’ basketball team remained undefeated in Region 5-AA play with a 42-39 win over Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Ashanti Brown and Roxanna Cheek each scored 11 points for the Bulldogs (12-4, 6-0) who will return to action on Friday at Wade Hampton.

The Schofield Middle School girls’ basketball team improved to 10-1 on the season with a comfortable win. Destiny Williams scored a game-best 18 points for Schofield, which also got seven more from Olivia Felton. Schofield will return to action on Monday when it plays at Aiken Middle School.

USC Salkehatchie 65


Aiken Tech 60


The Aiken Tech men’s basketball team suffered its first loss in Region 10 play this season, falling 65-60 to USC Salkehatchie. Ronkeem Salley-White led the Knights (7-10, 1-1) with 15 points while teammate Keith Crump added 13 more. Aiken Tech will return to action on Friday at home against Brunswick Community College.
