A 14-year-old South Aiken High School student was detained for possession of marijuana on Thursday after a teacher caught him smoking a white tube called a one-hitter, according to reports. The student was apprehended by the teacher after a short chase.
A female juvenile was detained for shoplifting on Thursday after she tried to conceal a pair of earrings and exit Dillard’s in Aiken Mall.
A plastic bag containing a clear, crystal-like substance believed to be meth was found on Richland Avenue on Friday.

Aiken Public Safety officers responded to an alleged shooting on Monetta Street about 7:15 p.m. on Friday after dispatch received a call from an unknown man who said, “I’m shot.” Officers investigated but residents said they hadn’t heard any shots, and there was no evidence of a shooting.
Officers responded to an alarm at Sprint on Whiskey Road on Friday. The alarm was reportedly triggered by an open back door at the store, which was cleared by police.
