Fowler reports on Battle of 1812

At the recent meeting of the Henry Middleton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Carol Fowler reported about her travels to Plattsburg, N.Y., with her husband regarding the Battle of 1812.

Carolís husband, Larry Fowler Sr., served on the USS Henley DD-762 and participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis. The USS Henley served in World War II, and was sunk in the Pacific Ocean by a Japanese submarine in 1943.

The Henley Association prepared a float, and Larry and other shipmates rode on it during the 200th anniversary celebration of the City of Plattsburg parade.

The report was enjoyed by the Chapter members as part of their program for the month.

The Henry Middleton Chapter meets throughout the year. For more information, call Carolyn Miller at 649-7909
