Howard Jacob Brounce and Janet Frankhouser Brounce, residents of Aiken, SC, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They were wed on December 18, 1952 in Winchester, VA by the Rev. G. Raymond Womeldorf at Old Stone Presbyterian Church.
Howard and Janet returned to Winchester in December of 2002 on their 50th anniversary. For their 60th, they celebrated with a five-day vacation in Mt. Pleasant; Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. A family dinner was held at the home of David and Gail Sintich of Aiken.
They have been Brethren by faith since their marriage. Baptized in the Masontown, PA Brethren Church, they moved to Uniontown, PA and joined the Church of the Brethren in 1960. Howard and Janet served that congregation as lifetime deacons since 1966 (now deacons emeritus) and were youth advisors for thirty years. They were also advisors for the Western PA District Youth and the District Youth Choir for six years. Upon moving to Aiken in 2000, they became members of the Grace Brethren Church of Aiken.
The Brounces are the parents of two daughters: Gail B. Sintich (David) of Aiken, SC and Gwen B. Widdowson (Arnold) of Menlo Park, CA. There are five grandchildren: Jacob Sintich, Katherine S. Dukes (Matt), John Sintich III, Elizabeth Sintich and Andrew Widdowson. They have one great-granddaughter Lily Sintich.
