His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Godolphin Racing, LLC, received the Eclipse Award for outstanding Owner, Saturday evening at the 42nd annual Eclipse Awards at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla. This is the third Eclipse Award for Sheikh Mohammed as outstanding owner, winning the honors in 2009 under the Godolphin banner, and in 2006 with his Darley Stables.


Darley America has their horses broken and trained in Aiken, under the watchful eye of trainer Tim Jones, in preparation for their careers at the racetrack.


“We’re very blessed,” said Jones, in a phone interview Saturday evening. “It was a team effort. Everyone did a great job pulling together as a team. I’m very happy for Sheikh Mohammed.”


Godolphin runners captured seven Grade 1 races in 2012 including the 2012 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year Alpha, the Travers Stakes, and the 2011 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year It’s Tricky, the Ogden Phipps Handicap. Emcee, the Forego Stakes victor, and Better Lucky, the Matriarch Stakes winner, were broken and trained in Aiken, and were also among the horses racing in the familiar Godolphin blue silks to score Grade 1 victories in 2012.


Questing won the Coaching Club American Oaks and Alabama, and Dance Card captured the Gazelle, to provide Godolphin Racing with their lucky seven this past year.
