His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Darley Stable had an incredible year in 2012, with Darley bred horses accounting for 15 graded stakes wins, and their success at the racetrack was recognized Saturday night as they received the Eclipse Award as the outstanding Breeder at the 42nd annual Eclipse Awards at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
Darley has a breaking and training division based in Aiken at the Aiken Training Track. Tim Jones is Darley’s trainer in Aiken.
“It’s pretty awesome,” said Jones. “We are delighted, It’s such an honor. We’re very proud for Sheikh Mohammed.”
The 2012 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year Alpha, who dead heated in placing first in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes, was bred by Darley, as were Grade 1 winners Emcee, Better Lucky and Questing (GB).
A winner of two Grade 1 races during her sophomore campaign, the third jewel of the New York Racing Association’s Triple Tiara, the Coaching Club American Oaks, and the Alabama Stakes, Questing was presented with the Eclispe Award for outstanding Three-Year-Old Filly.
