Ridge Spring-Monetta 41
In a game delayed a day by a malfunctioning scoreboard, the Wagener-Salley High School boys’ basketball team knocked off its Region 4-A rival Ridge Spring-Monetta Wednesday. RJ Tyler led the way for the War Eagles with 22 points.
Teammates Malcolm Stroman and Gregg Hicks combined to score 20 more for Wagener-Salley, which improved its record to 10-7 with the win, and 4-2 in region play, good enough for second place. It will return to action on Friday when it travels to take on first-place Fox Creek. The Trojans’ (6-10, 2-3) next game is also Friday, when they will play host to Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.
