Crews respond to suspicious fire
Emergency crews responded to a fire in Wagener on Sunday that has been deemed suspicious.
The fire happened about 4:45 p.m. at a home on Collum Pond Road in Wagener, according to a report by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told officers he was notified by a neighbor that smoke was coming from his home, and that when he arrived he found “hot spots in the woods and his trailer on fire.”
He added that he found vehicle tracks and foot prints in the area, according to the report.
A hunting stand was reportedly missing from the location.
Men charged with possession of stolen vehicle
Three men were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle after a woman reported seeing her daughter’s stolen vehicle being driven on Fairfield Street on Friday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Officers found the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on York Street, according to a report. Three men were found inside the vehicle.
On one suspect, officers found a .380-caliber handgun and marijuana, according to the report. Under a passenger seat, a .22-caliber handgun was found.
All three men were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, and two of them were charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol.
The vehicle was turned over to the victim’s father.
