The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to a call of shots fired near the 300 block of Newberry Street around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers investigated but found no evidence of gunfire.
Officers responded to another gunshot fired near Hampton Avenue and Newberry Street, which was also heard from Public Safety headquarters.
A school resource officer found smoked portions of a hand-rolled cigarette containing a leafy material that smelled like marijuana inside a student’s vehicle at Aiken High School. The student told the officer the cigarette belonged to another person. The officer also found several white pills inside a cup, which were placed into evidence along with the cigarette.
A white 2007 Ford Focus was reported stolen from Richland Avenue on Wednesday.
A vehicle break-in was reported on Union Street on Tuesday. The owner reported that the vehicle was unlocked, but nothing was missing.
A 71-year-old Jackson man reported on Wednesday that someone stole his mailbox from in front of his home.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office detained a 19-year-old woman for disorderly conduct after she was found exhibiting signs of intoxication at the intersection of Cato Road and Piney Heights Road in Warrenville.
A burglary was reported on Good Springs Road in Aiken on Wednesday. The owner reported an air conditioner unit missing.
