The Knights of Columbus will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1003 Spaulding Drive. Admission is free, and proceeds will benefit the 4th Degree Knights.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center at 7022 Evans Towne Center Blvd. in Evans. Tea seminars will be held at The Curiosity Shop, 224 Park Ave. S.W., in January and February. Each event focuses on two families of tea, with tastings, explanations and discussion groups. The Southwestern District of the South Carolina Federation of Music Clubs is offering a summer scholarship to Brevard Music Center. These students are limited to ages 14-18. Any student living in the Southwestern District, which includes Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Hampton and Orangeburg counties, is eligible to enter. Genealogy 101 classes, presented by the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society, are being offered at the Tompkins Library, 104 Courthouse Square, Edgefield, one Saturday a month. These well-attended meetings provide researchers with a basic understanding of how to start researching their family history and how to utilize various records. The next class will be held Saturday and will focus on cemeteries. The class will begin at 9 a.m. and will last about an hour, with time and assistance given afterward for research in the library until 1:30 p.m. Coffee and pastries will be served.
