AIKEN, S.C. – Funeral Services for Mahalia Johnson Stevens will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at Cumberland AME Church. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Salley, SC. A. A. Dicks Funeral Home-Sullivan Chapel in Columbia, SC is in charge of these arrangements. There will be a public viewing Thursday, January 10, 2013 from Noon - 8 p.m. at the Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home in Aiken, SC Mahalia J. Stevens was born September 4, 1963 in Aiken, SC to the late Daniel Stallings, Sr. and Eartha Dell Johnson. She entered into rest Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken, SC. Mahalia attended Aiken County Schools where she graduated with the Class of 1981 from Aiken High School. She was employed at the Aiken Technical College as a custodian. Left to cherish precious memories are: her husband, Gregory C. Stevens; two sons, Darius Johnson of Aiken, SC and Brandon Moore of Wyoming; a step-daughter, Lateidrya B. Mims of McCormick, SC; granddaughter, Destiny McKevie; grandson, AJ.; two brothers, Daniel “Sonny” Stallings of Aiken, SC and Jimmy Stallings of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Denise (A. A., Sr.) Dicks of Columbia, SC and Rosa Marie Johnson of Maryland; three step-sisters, Ella and Betty Stallings both of Atlanta, GA and Kay Frances Stallings of New York; an aunt, Evelyn (Ernest) Graham of Atlanta, GA; two uncles, Elmo Williams and Boisy Johnson both of Aiken, SC; mother-in-law, Clara F. Stevens; sisters-in-law, Claranne Stevens; four brothers-in-law, Robert Hanna, Terry L. (Beverly) Stevens, Noah E. (Joyce) Stevens, Jr. and Mark A. (Marie) Stevens; two lifelong friends, Beverly Brown and Elaine Shelby both of Aiken, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
