The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is sponsoring Puppy Classes and Basic Dog Classes on Wednesday mornings at 11:30 a.m. beginning today. Puppies for the Puppy Class must be between 10 and 20 weeks of age and have had two sets of shots. The Puppy Class runs for 6 weeks. Dogs for the Basic Class must have proof of having a rabies vaccination and be older than 20 weeks. The Basic Class also begins today at 11:30 a.m. The classes are held indoors at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center. Register for the class in person at the Center. Pre-registration is required as enrollment must be completed before the first class date. The monthly meeting of the Aiken Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will be held today at Newberry Hall. Cost is $22 per person. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:15 p.m.

The Aiken Camellia Society will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in Ward Hall at Saint Johnís United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St. This monthís free program, which is open to the public, will be tips for novices on how to enter camellia blooms in the 62nd Annual Camellia Show to be held at the Aiken Mall Jan. 19 and 20.

The Aiken Gem, Mineral and Fossil Society members will participate in ďRockhound JeopardyĒ at 7 p.m. on Friday, in Room 200 of the Science Building at USC Aiken, 471 University Parkway. Prizes will be given, show-and-tell shared and refreshments enjoyed.


Herbal Solutions will hold a re-grand opening on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Deborah Schlag, author of ďBecoming the Healer: The Miracle of Brain Injury,Ē will be present to sign copies of her book from 2-5 p.m. Herbal Solutions is located at 722 Silver Bluff Road.
