WILLISTON, SC – Funeral services for Gussie Mae Sturkie Greene Arban, 78, of Williston, SC will be held three p.m., Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Joyce Branch Section of the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Linda and Gean Bridgmon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Mrs. Gussie’s memory to Elko Baptist Church General Fund, P.O. Box 277, Elko, SC 29826 or American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. Mrs. Gussie passed away Friday, January 4, 2013. Born in Aiken, SC she was a daughter of the late Allen G. Sturkie and Cleo Gunter Sturkie and was first married to the late Henry Edward Greene and was the widow of Bill Arban. She retired from Williston Manufacturing as a sewing machine operator, was a faithful member of Elko Baptist Church and member of the Clara Hitt Sunday School Class. Survivors include daughters, Linda (Gean) Bridgmon of Williston, SC, Judy (Mike) Duncan of Humble, TX; sons, Vernon (Wynne) Greene of Wildwood, FL, Dexter (Cindy) Greene of Williston; step-daughters, Billye (Kennon) Harris, Sherrie Harris all of Savannah, GA, Beverly (Lee) Futch of Statesboro, GA; sisters, Marie Smith of Aiken, SC, Ann (D.E.) Shumpert of South Congaree, SC, Brenda (Ronnie) Holtzclaw of Aiken, SC; brothers, Allen (Betty) Sturkie of New Holland, SC, Larry (Norma) Sturkie of Aiken, SC; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, ten step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gussie was preceded in death by a sister Sarah Brasher. Folk Funeral Home, Inc. and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
