Thank you

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our anonymous donor of generous Costco cards this past year. We don't know if you have been a recipient of our food during the year or not, but we hope you read this and know how very much we appreciate your gifts. You have made some folks in our community happy, too. We wish you a very happy and healthy new year.

Bridge idea

To all these people who are complaining about the bridge on Laurens Street, maybe they should contribute enough money so that they can beautify the bridge themselves.

Pay raise

Did I see correctly that Obama is giving Congress a pay raise? Unbelievable. When most Americans are facing a big tax hike and struggling, he has the gall to order a pay raise? How about a pay cut for non-performance? That's the way it works in industry or maybe you would get fired for poor performance. This is yet another example of how out of touch this president is with the people.

God bless

I would like to say thank you to the couple at Bush Steeple in Graniteville on Dec. 27 that paid for me, my husband and our grandkids' meals. I thought it was a special gesture that we will never forget. It's good to know there are still good people in the world. So, to whoever the couple was, I did not get your name, God bless.

Running government

Consider why it costs so much to run government. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to combine two or three county governments rather than running one inefficiently?

Blue lights

I'm glad to see the taxpayers money being put to something good at use at the H. Odell Weeks Activites Center. The blue lights - that's the best bet for the taxpayers 'money. At least this time it wasn't tennis courts.

Everybody complained because the bridge hadn't been fixed – it took too long to fix it. Now, the bridge is open, and everyone is complaining that they don't like the look of the bridge. Well, it's just a bridge. It's not a work of art, so get a life and get over it. The city can't do everything you want them to do.

The Laurens Street bridge needs a brick or stone facing so that it is compatible with the exquisite serpentine wall.
