A man wielding a knife robbed the Waffle House on Frontage Road on Monday, leaving the scene with the entire cash register drawer, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

The subject left the scene in a car before deputies arrived at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Witnesses said the subject was a black male wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses, a dark bandana and purple gloves. He reportedly entered the restaurant carrying a knife and went straight to the cash register, according to an incident report.

The subject said he had a gun, as well, but witnesses did not see it, the report stated.

The subject opened the register, took the entire drawer, and left the scene.

Witnesses reported the subject drove away in a beige color Nissan, heading north on Highway 19 towards Edgefield County.

Law enforcement reviewed the restaurant's surveillance tapes and got the tag number from the subject's vehicle.

Numerous units patrolled the area along Highway 19 and Highway 39 with no results, according to the report.
