A man wielding a knife robbed the Waffle House on Frontage Road Monday and left the scene with the entire cash register drawer, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

The subject left the scene in a car before deputies arrived.

Witnesses reported the subject,  a black male wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses, a dark bandana, and purple gloves entered the restaurant with a knife and went straight to the cash register, according to an incident report.

Police said the subject reportedly said he had a gun, as well, but witnesses did not see it. The subject opened the register, took the entire drawer, and left the scene, police said.

Witnesses reported the subject left in a beige color Nissan, driving on Highway 19 toward Edgefield County.

Law enforcement reviewed the restaurant's surveillance tapes and got the tag number from the subject's vehicle.

Numerous units patrolled the area along Highway 19 and Highway 39 with negative results, according to the report.
