The Aiken Center for Active Seniors, Aiken’s new, upscale senior adult day center, will host an open house in the beginning of January.

All seniors, their caregivers, health care professionals and the community are invited to drop by to see the center and to learn more about the services they provide.

“Adult Day Care is a fun, cost-effective option for senior care and the perfect way for seniors to remain socially active with their peers,” Karen Poteat, owner and administrator of the center said. “The Aiken Center for Active Seniors provides a full day of care and companionship in a loving, safe environment. Each day at Aiken Center for Active Seniors will be treated like a holiday and will be filled with exciting activities geared toward meeting the social, mental, physical and emotional needs of the senior population Not only will seniors enjoy coming here, but families will have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are being well cared for in a secure and nurturing environment.

ACAS is scheduled to open in January. Client registration packets will be available at the open house and there will also be an opportunity for those interested in volunteering to sign up.

“The response to hearing that the center is opening soon has been tremendous,” Poteat said. “Aiken is really excited to have another quality option for senior care. There’s nothing like it in the area, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it for themselves. We have created a very warm and inviting atmosphere and I think our clients will feel like they have come to a friend’s house, not to a facility. Our unique daily programs will include mental stimulation, physical activity, art, music, good food and fun. There will be structured activities, but there will also be several opportunities throughout the day for clients to choose what they want to do. This type of scheduling allows each person’s individual needs to be met while creating a more relaxed environment.”

A drawing for a gift certificate to a local restaurant will be held each day of the open house and one lucky client who joins during the month of January will receive a free week of service. For more information, visit www.aikenactiveseniors.com or call 226–0355.

The open house will be held on Jan. 2, 3 and 4 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Aiken Center for Active Seniors is located at 690 Medical Park Drive in Aiken (rear entrance to the Hitchcock Healthcare building.)
