North Augusta boys’ dominate Berkeley
The North Augusta High School boys’ basketball team posted a lopsided victory in the opening round of the Lake Marion Invitational Tournament Wednesday, beating Berkeley 87-31. The Yellow Jackets (7-2) got a balanced perfomance in the big win, led by Steve Copeland’s 13 points. Victor Johnson added 12 points for North Augusta, which will face Westside today at 2:30 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.
Ridge Spring-Monetta girls’ top Bamberg-Ehrhardt
Playing in the Blackville-Hilda Holiday Classic, the Ridge Spring-Monetta High School girls’ basketball team beat Bamberg-Ehrhardt, 41-29. The Trojans (5-5) were led by Tymyah Tyler’s double-double, as she finished with 17 points and 12 steals, while also adding five rebounds and two blocks in the victory. Ashley Perry had 12 rebounds to go with six points and three steals and teammate Crystal Preston had eight steals and five points. Ridge Spring-Monetta will return to action today at 3 p.m. against Allendale-Fairfax.
