Police investigate trespassing complaint
An Aiken woman told authorities on Monday that a man has been trespassing and stalking her on her property, according to a report by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim said the man has been there multiple times but could not provide a frequency of incidents, according to the report. She told officers when he did come, it was usually between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m., and midnight and 2 a.m.
The victim said the man stands outside her window on occasion and has cut bamboo and placed it where it is easily visible in her yard, according to the report. She believes the man has befriended her dogs since they do not bark at him.
Authorities look into fraud attempt
Authorities are investigating a case of attempted fraud in which a caller posed as an employee of SCE&G, according to a sheriff’s report.
The 38-year-old victim told officers a man called and told her that her SCE&G power bill was past due by an amount of about $205, according to a report. The man requested bank routing and account information so the amount could be withdrawn electronically.
The victim told the man she had paid her bill and ended the conversation, according to the report. She then called SCE&G and was told her account was current and that no attempts had been made to contact her.
