A verbal argument between a woman and her boyfriend on Sunday resulted in an assault and a broken storefront window, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
According to a report, the incident happened about 1 a.m. Sunday outside Playoffs Bar at the corner of Richland Avenue and Newberry Street.
The 24-year-old victim told officers she was standing outside on the sidewalk near the bar and was grabbed and assaulted by the female suspect.
A witness told officers the suspect had just been involved with a verbal argument with her boyfriend in front of On Board Realty on Richland Avenue when she pushed him, causing him to fall through the window of the business and suffer a cut to his left forearm.
The suspect then turned to the victim and began assaulting her, striking her several times in the head and causing the victim to strike her head on the sidewalk, according to the report. The victim suffered multiple cuts and scrapes to her face and neck.
The suspect left the scene and didn’t return, according to the report. Her boyfriend did not want to press charges, but the female victim did. Officers will obtain warrants for the suspect’s arrest.
The report did not indicate if or how the suspect and victim knew each other.
Staff from On Board Realty could not be reached by officers, and staff from Playoffs secured the broken window with a piece of plywood.
