An Aiken man was charged with two counts of attempted murder for a shooting incident that happened on Moonshadow Drive on Sunday, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Mario Gilbert, 29, of Lawrence Street, was also charged with two counts of malicious injury to personal property and placed in the Aiken County detention center, where he remained on Monday night.
The victims told the officer they were standing outside the home around 9:30 a.m. when Gilbert began shooting at them with a pistol, according to the report. One of the victims ran behind a trailer and the other ran inside the home for cover.
Investigators found that two rounds had entered the home and struck a television and an interior door, according to the report. There was also damage to a vehicle, and investigators found six shell casings where the victims said Gilbert stood.
Gilbert told officers that one of the victims shot at him first, but no evidence of gunfire was found at the victim’s location, according to the report.
