LETTER: No need to widen parkway
No need to widen parkway
My wife and I have lived in Aiken 15 years. We travel Hitchcock Parkway between Silver Bluff Road and Richland Avenue almost every day.
There is no need to widen any section of this road. There are adequate turning lanes and the only possible addition of a traffic light would be at the Hickory Ridge intersection.
Spending upwards of $16 million to widen this road is ludicrous. The road could use re-paving and re-striping.
Let’s get some prisoners to clean up all the trash that is along our scenic parkway. This is deplorable.
Also, walking and bike paths and landscaping improvement would be an asset.
