USC Aiken menís basketball player Ronald Zimmerman and womenís basketball player Kayla Harris were both chosen as the Peach Belt Conference Basketball Players of the Week Monday for the week of Dec. 10.

The honor was the first of Zimmermanís career and the second for Harris. Zimmermanís the first Pacer man to earn the award since Alvin Brown on Jan. 17, 2011. Harris won the award earlier this year on Feb. 13.

Zimmerman closed out USCAís home victory over Mount Olive last Thursday with a career-high 34 points. He was 7-for-12 from beyond the arc in the game. The seven 3-pointers tied a career-high that he originally set in USCAís home win over then 15th-ranked Winston-Salem State on Nov. 19.

Zimmerman, who was 10-for-15 from the field in total, also had five steals and one assist. He was 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.

The junior guard is currently first in the nation with 5.0 3-pointers made per game. On the year, heís shooting 25-for-49 (51 percent) from beyond the arc and averaging a team-best 20.6 points per game. That mark is also second-best in the PBC, trailing only Armstrongís Aric Miller, who has 25.0 points per game. The Pacers also now own top team 3-point field goal percentage in Division II at 46.2 percent after being in ninth place a week ago.

Harris led a trio of Pacers in double figures in their road win over Wingate on Friday with 25 points. Harris was 11-for-20 from the field in the game. She was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, and also had a team-best eight rebounds, three steals and three assists.

After her 25 points in the win over Wingate, Harris now has 999 points in her career. The preseason All-American is a point away from becoming the ninth womenís basketball player in USCAís NCAA Division II era to score 1,000 points or more in their career.

Harris is first among all Pacers and third in the PBC in scoring at 19.0 points per game. Sheís also eighth in the conference in rebounds with 7.5 per game.

Harris and the nationally third-ranked Pacers will open PBC play against UNC Pembroke at the Convocation Center on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Zimmerman and the menís team will also follow with a game against UNCP, and tip-off is tentatively slated for 7:30 p.m.
