The stress associated with holiday packages arriving on time can be greatly reduced if you’re aware of the shipping deadlines. Most don’t have the luxury of a sleigh pulled by reindeer to drop off packages on Christmas Eve.
However, knowing the holiday shipping cut-off dates can make celebrating the season a bit easier.
The United States Postal Service’s cut-off date for domestic mail sent first class is Dec. 20; priority mail is Dec. 21 and express mail is Dec. 22. The USPS holiday shipping deadline for parcel post is Dec. 14; destinations network distribution center drop ship is Dec. 19 and destination delivery unit drop ship is Dec. 21.
FedEx has its own holiday shipping deadlines. The domestic service deadlines for making sure a package arrives on time varies. However, those wishing to take advantage of the delivery service’s same-day shipping option will be able to have the packages delivered on Christmas Day. The cut-off day for FedEx First Overnight, FedEx Priority Overnight and FedEx Standard Overnight is Dec. 22. The deadline for FedEx 2Day a.m. and FedEx 2Day is Dec. 20. Those wanting to take advantage of the FedEx Express Saver service should mail their package by Dec. 19. And the deadline for two other services provided by the home delivery company is Dec. 17 for both FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery. The cutoff date for FedEx Smart Post, a non-guaranteed service in Dec. 12 for making sure your packages arrive on time.
