Thoroughbred Futures Racing’s Nakano finished in the money for the 7th consecutive time, closing determinedly with jockey Javier Castellano in the irons, to finish 3rd Saturday in the 6-furlong Grade 3 Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park. The Marty Wolfson charge has hit the board in her last seven starts. The daughter of Grade 1 winner First Samurai was broken and trained by Tim and Cary Frommer.
Marty Wolfson conditions the bay 4-year-old filly, who earlier this year won the 5-furlong Connie Ann Stakes. Nakano placed third in her last start the 6 1/2-furlong Mike Sherman Memorial Stakes. It was the 14th start of Nakano’s career, and the consistent filly has won or placed in every race during her 4-year-old campaign. Nakano has 3 wins, 4 seconds and 4 thirds, increasing her lifetime bankroll to $163,652.
