Carolina Outdoors, a local provider of lawn equipment, firearms, ammunition and hunting apparel, has opened a second location in Aiken.

Its second store is located in the former Phelon Motorsports building at 3980 Richland Ave. W.

The store focuses primarily on the sale and service of lawn equipment – push and riding mowers and golf cars – while its original store on Whiskey Road will continue to carry guns and apparel.

The Richland Avenue store opened Monday.

Employee Dane Burkhart said many are happy with the location as it's highly visible, highly trafficked and will soon be neighbor to Sam's Club.

“We jumped on it as soon as we could,” he said. “We feel like it's going to do great.”

Carolina Outdoors is an E-Z-GO dealer and offers other brand-name equipment like Snapper, Walker and Ferris.

Owner Butch Roberson opened Carolina Outdoors on Whiskey Road last summer after buying Aiken Golf Cars.

The larger Richland Avenue location is perfect for the sale and service of larger lawn equipment, said Burkhart. For example, landscaping companies that haul their equipment, he said.

“We specialize is mowers. We'll service practically anything that runs,” he said. “We have a good product, good service and good customer service.”

Richland Avenue store hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
