Thanks to a glowing review and what was called a “very productive meeting,” Aiken County schools Superintendant Dr. Beth Everitt not only received praise but an additional year to her contract.

Following the nearly three-hour meeting, it was put in motion and conferred that Everitt will have her contract extended until June 30, 2016.

“I appreciate the support of the board, the acknowledgement of my work and the extension of my contract,” Everitt said following the meeting.

The move was put into place after what was, according to school board chairperson Rosemary English, “the result of the overall very good evaluation” of Everitt’s work as superintendant.

English and board member Wesley Hightower also praised the meeting itself.

“This has probably been one of the most productive meetings I have ever been a part of,” Hightower said.

English said, “I am very pleased with the discussion, and I am very proud to serve as the chair of this board.”
