A 13-year-old boy was charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds after an employee at the middle school he attends found him with a 5.5-inch blade knife, according to a public safety report. The child was booked and released to his mother, who told officers he received the knife as a gift and accidentally left it in his book bag.
