Boys

South Aiken HS 68,

Greenbrier (Ga.) HS 57

Jordan Dingle led the way for South Aiken (2-1) with 24 points, followed by Jordan Scott with 18 points. Taijha Turner chipped in 10 points for the T-Breds, who will host Airport on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. after a 6 p.m. girls’ game.

Cross Creek (Ga.) HS 69,

Fox Creek HS 59

Fox Creek High School started off strong and stayed competitive Tuesday evening in its boys’ basketball opener.

The Predators (0-1) jumped out to a six-point lead and delighted the home fans, but the Razorbacks (1-2) fought back to an 18-12 lead to end the first quarter and managed to keep Fox Creek at bay.

Marques Sumner and Deondre Baskett had 13 points apiece for the home team, followed by teammate Brandy Quiller with 12.

Dominating among all scorers was Cross Creek’s Treaire Moore, with 29 points. Teammate Marcus Lofland added 10.

Fox Creek’s next action is a weekend tournament at Augusta Prep, starting with a 4 p.m. Thursday game against Westminster.

South Aiken Baptist 60,

Andrew Jackson Academy 16

South Aiken Baptist (1-0) won its opener, sparked by a 17-point, 10-rebound effort from Joseph Kass. Ben Alexander added 15 points, and Joshua Metzer had 14 points and 10 assists.

South Aiken Baptist will host Wardlaw on Tuesday, with JV girls’ action starting things off at 4 p.m.

LBC MS 53,

Ridge Spring-Monetta MS 25

LBC (1-0) won its opener over RS-M (0-1) behind a 20-point effort from Tayler Wade. Zion Truesdell added 14 points for the victors, who will hit the road to play AL Corbett on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Girls

Midland Valley HS 51, Lakeside (Ga.) HS 49 (OT)

Midland Valley (1-0) won its regular-season opener in overtime on the strength of a 26-point outburst from Alexis Bates.

Christien Dunbar had 11 points, and Janisa Prescott had seven. Freshman Elizabeth Gunter controlled the boards with 12 rebounds on the night.

The Mustangs will host Silver Bluff Friday at 6 p.m.

Cross Creek (Ga.) HS 80,

Fox Creek HS 15

Cross Creek High School flexed some serious basketball muscle Tuesday evening in a girls’ game at Fox Creek. Cross Creek (3-0) had 11 players score, with Ashleigh Butler’s 15-point performance as the best of the bunch.

Teammate Naomi Wilds added 10. Fox Creek, playing in its season opener, got a team-best total of six points via Kiena Green.

Fox Creek, with Richard Brady beginning his first season as head coach, is next to be in action in a weekend tournament at Augusta Prep, starting with a Thursday game at 5:30 p.m. against Augusta Christian.
