The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to multiple car break-ins between Wednesday and Sunday on Audobon Drive, Sumter Street, Banks Terrace, South Boundary Avenue, McCormick Street, Woodward Street, Boardman Road, Coker Spring Drive, Dupont Drive, York Street and Bennett Avenue.

Shopliftings were reported over the holiday weekend at Claire’s in Aiken Mall, Walmart on Whiskey Road and Richland Avenue, Reid’s on York Street, Save-a-Lot on York Street, Lowe’s on Whiskey Road and Dillard’s in Aiken Mall.

Aiken Public Safety officers responded to a call about a suspicious person at Moe’s on Whiskey Road. After arriving, officers checked the restroom and found a 59-year-old man who had disrobed and was washing himself in the sink, according to a report. The man made “a significant mess” in the restroom and was placed on trespass notice.

A 49-year-old Aiken woman reported to Public Safety on Sunday that she received a text message from an unknown number saying, “I hid the body now what?” An officer attempted to contact someone at the number but was unsuccessful.

A 49-year-old man was detained for DUI on Saturday after backing his car into another vehicle at the Waffle House in Richland Avenue. He was arrested after failing multiple field sobriety tests.

An Aiken man reported on Saturday that his girlfriend damaged furniture and walls in their home after they got into an argument over cigarettes, according to a report. The woman reportedly became angry and used “several” hammers, including a sledgehammer, to damage furniture and some walls in the Bunche Terrace home. The man suffered cuts to his arms after he tried to disarm his girlfriend, who came after him with a knife before fleeing the scene, according to the report.

A burglary was reported on Legare Road in Aiken. The owner reported hearing glass break and finding a shattered window pane on the floor in the home. Several electronics and documents were reported missing.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office responded to break-ins on Coker Drive in Aiken, Kalmia Apartment Lane in Graniteville, Flowing Wells Road in Wagener, Beck Road in Williston, Whiskey Road in Aiken, Tutt Street in Warrenville, Hill Street in North Augusta and Stormbranch Road in Clearwater.

Vehicle break-ins were reported on Sunfest Drive in North Augusta, Catfish Lane in Beech Island, Hill Street in North Augusta and Hillside Drive in North Augusta.

Shopliftings were reported at Mini-Mart on Augusta Road in Gloverville and Dollar General on Jefferson Davis Highway in Clearwater.

A vehicle was reported stolen from Kershaw Drive in North Augusta on Saturday.
