Tea time is near for the Aiken Christian Women’s Connection.
The organization is holding its “Holiday High Tea” next week, offering some early Christmas cheer and fellowship.
Sedley Roach and Connie Gantt are assisting the group with its tea. The two ladies have done several formal teas for other groups around the community, according to the Aiken Christian Women’s Connection Chair Pam Morin.
“It’s a great way to bring in the holiday,” Morin said. “It’s so much fun because the ladies will wear their hats and festive clothing.”
Roach said the tea will include cookies and small sandwiches. She has been doing teas in Aiken since around 2000. Her love for the warm drink led her to get involved in offering formal tea events.
“I’m a tea drinker,” Roach said. “I’ve always told people that tea is the best thing for your body and you should drink at least one cup a day.”
The speaker of the event is Marynell Wallace of Ladson. Her speech is titled, “What in Heaven’s Name Are You Doing?”
Local musician Vicki Rutland will offer musical entertainment at the event as well.
The event will take place Tuesday at the Woodside PlantationCountry Club from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Hats and holiday attire are encouraged.
Reservations must be made by Thursday. Call Pam Harmon at 270-0704 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The cost to attend the event is $17.
