Dance Card takes Gazelle in impressive fashion
Godolphin Racing’s Dance Card made it four consecutive victories, and did so in impressive fashion with a 4-length score in the 1 1/8-mile $350,000 Grade 1 Gazelle Stakes Saturday at Aqueduct. Dance Card went to the rail, would dictate a slow early pace, and later drift out wide to win decisively. The gray filly has been nothing short of sensational during her sophomore campaign winning her last 3 races at the 1 1/16-mile distance. Dance Card was coming off a 62 day layoff. The 2-time Eclipse Award winning jockey Ramon Dominguez had the return call on the daughter of Grade 1 winner Tapit.
Dance Card won her last start the Belle Cherie Stakes by an authorative 7 1/2-lengths at Belmont Park on Sept. 23. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin conditions the filly who was purchased for $750,000 by John Ferguson, agent, from the consignment of Stephens Thoroughbreds, agent for Vision Racing and Sales, LLC, at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Florida Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.
Dance Card increased her lifetime earnings to $372,200.
Godolphin Racing’s Buffum finished fourth in today’s $350,000 Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap at Aqueduct. The 4-year-old son of Bernardini broke cleanly and set the early fractions, fighting determinedly with Groupie Doll and Coil and enjoyed a short lead at the quarter pole, before giving way entering the final furlong. The Tom Albertrani charge increased his lifetime bankroll to $259,300.
