Multiple graded stakes winner Joyful Victory was sent off as the second choice in the wagering in the field of seven entries in the 1 1/8-mile Grade 2 Falls City Handicap Thursday at Churchill Downs. And the gray daughter of Tapit, who is campaigned by Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm, set the early fractions before giving way to eventual winner Afleeting Lady, holding onto finish third. Joyful Victory was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim and Cary Frommer.
The 4-year-old Ontario-bred filly was ridden by Robby Albarado, and is conditioned by Larry Jones, and was the race’s second co-highweight carrying 119 pounds.
Joyful Victory has been a model of consistency, having finished in the money 80 percent of the time, and has 4 wins, 5 seconds and 3 thirds in 15 lifetime starts, and increased her bankroll to $673,079.
