Glenn Hills 23

Aiken (1-1) collected its first win of the young season on Tuesday over Glenn Hills.

The Hornets were led in scoring by Sophie Nance with 10 points, followed by Erin Gilmore and Monique Tyler with six points each.

Aiken will next play Tuesday at Silver Bluff.

Host team captures title at Lathrop Cup yet again

For the second year in a row, the host team of the Lathrop Cup has been able to leave the trophy right there at their club. The Bulls Bay team consisting of Tim Assey, Arthur Smith & Bill Smunk battled cool temperatures, fast greens & windy conditions to claim their second Lathrop Cup Championship. The winning trio shot a total of 231 to narrowly defeat the teams of Lake City Country Club and Florence Country Club by one shot.

The Palmetto Golf Club team of Michael Carlisle, Ken Wiland and Jimmy Hamilton finished fourth with a total score of 234 in the event.

The Country Club of Lexington, led by Head Professional Clem King captured the Pro-Am portion of the event with a total of 135. The Lexington team was comprised of amateurs Lance Tucker, Robert Renfroe & John Cottrell.

The 2012 SCGA Lathrop Cup was played on the par 72, Bulls Bay Golf Course in Awendaw, SC. The field consisted of 29 teams playing in both the Lathrop Cup and the Lathrop Cup Pro-Am.
