Darryl Trotty Jr., 30, said he and his uncle, Milton Williams Jr. were standing in front of 141 Chalet North Court when they noticed several subjects approaching wearing camouflage coats and masks, according to North Augusta police.
North Augusta Lt. Tim Thornton said at around 9 p.m. on Friday, the suspects presented pistols and demanded money from the victims. Witnesses told police they observed Trotty being assaulted by the suspects, and Trotty was then shot in his left foot, police said.
Trotty was transported to a local hospital for medical attention for the gunshot wound, which police say was not life-threatening. Williams was not injured during the robbery, police said.
The suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money from both victims, according to police. Aiken County’s Bloodhound Tracking Team responded to the scene but was unsuccessful in locating any suspects.
North Augusta Public Safety is looking for five individuals responsible for the armed robbery and assault and battery. Anyone with information about the incident or the identities of the suspects is asked to contact Public Safety’s lead investigator, Det. Chris Toole, at (803) 441-4217.
